Holly & Walt's Surprise Party!

Well Blake and Chris and I pulled it off, Holly and Walt's Surprise 60th Birthday Party! They had no idea it was coming! So many of their family and friends came to the party last night. Mom's sister and family from Philadelphia and from Chicago, our friends the Voris's from Arizona and so many others from around the state of Indiana. It was such a wonderful turn out and we can't thank everyone enough for coming! A huge thank you to the Pippenger's and Antrim's for being part of the plan to get Mom and Dad to the Club!

One of the funniest parts was when Mom and Dad arrived at the Club and hung up their coats Mom saw Mrs. Green and Mrs. Floyd in the dining room and said to Mrs. Pippenger, what are they doing in there it looks like they got invited to a party and we didn't. How funny!
Thanks to everyone who attended! I didn't get a photo of their reaction but I am pretty sure that someone did and I will post it soon.

The 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee

Well some of you might know that I have been interested in being on the Super Bowl Host Committee for a very long time. My passion for this event started when I worked for the Marshall Faulk Foundation for just over 4 years and we did a Celebrity Golf Tournament in 4 different cities for 4 different Super Bowls; New Orleans, San Diego, Houston and Jacksonville.

So as soon as Indianapolis got the bid to host for 2012 I went into action trying to figure out who I know that can get me on the Host Committee. My former co-workers at the Foundation think I am crazy by the way! So Senator Luke Kenley (close family friend) was kind enough to put me in touch with Susan Williams the President of the Indiana Sports Corporation in May of last year. Susan then invited me to be on her President's Council and of course I accepted.

Then in November there was a Dad and his 15 year old son that walked into Velocity one evening and one of my employees took him on a tour and I looked at the information sheet and the last name said Melangton. About 10 minutes after the Dad and son walked into the facility a lady walked in and it was Allison Melangton (President of the Super Bowl Host Committee!!) and she says to me, "Hi Molly!". I was shocked she even remembered me from the ISC meetings.
So Cameron, her son is now a VSP member!

So we had the Q4 ISC Board Meeting (which was held on my Mother's birthday and I won't tell you how old she is....) and Allison was presenting at the meeting. When I arrived Allison was standing at the door and said that she wanted to meet with me about opportunities on the Host Committee! What a wonderful Christmas gift that was for me!

So to bring you up to speed, I met with Allison for breakfast just this past Wednesday and we had a great talk. It was more about the practice facility that is going to be built at Arsenal Tech (which is an IPS school and we have a sports performance coach that goes to Arsenal Tech once per week through our contract with IPS). I believe that I provided her with a lot of really great information on how to make a few changes for the transition of the facility into a community center. She gave me a copy of the job descriptions for the 13 positions she is going to hire and she said she thinks that I will find a couple that will suit me!!!

Later that evening about 8:15pm when I finally was closing up my office and noticed my voicemail light blinking I listened to the voicemail and it was from Susan Williams (President of the ISC) and she said, "Molly I heard you had a wonderful meeting with Allison this morning and Allison said it was the best hour she has spent since becoming President of the Host Committee (I am in tears at this point, tears of joy of course) and I didn't realize how involved you are with IPS and I would love for you to be on my Practice Facility Committe that hasn't been announced yet. I would like to meet with you very soon to get you up to speed on the facility......"

So needless to say Wednesday was a very exciting day for me knowing that my dream of being on the Host Committee is within reach. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Thanks for reading my long post!
